Hi all, Have had a suit made by a different Vietnamese tailor. Far more reputable, and I think a far better job all round for fit. Once again, full canvas, horn buttons. Skipped the working button holes. High button stance two button, double vented, hacking pockets.

This is made from Holland & Sherry 9oz English Oak Series Wool Worsted - purchased on eBay for 40GBP, the tailoring cost was one million Vietnam dong, about USD65 - so total suit cost was about $145. Thoughts? Tweakage required? Matt

Pictures are too small to see details. But the pants look long and the top of the back (just below collar) wrinkles. The jacket opens a bit too much at the bottom button. Are the wrinkles at the top of your right arm due to lack of pressing?

I agree that trousers too long; right shoulder extend too far out or is this your stance or pressing or??

yeah, i think just lack of pressing - needs to hang in the shower for a few days to work the crinks out.

i just tried the pants again, length is ok - think maybe i needed to pull em up a little higher before taking the pic, sorry

Do you like the sleeve length? Maybe a bit long? And the right seems a bit shorter than the left (?)

Enjoy.

Sure there might be a few adjustments here or there but for the most part it is a decent suit - especially for the price. A lot of off the racks wouldn't fit you that well for many times the cost. How is the construction - it is difficult for me to tell from the photos. I am sure other forum members can comment better on this.

So do any of these tailors have websites? I am always in need of suits that I were on business trips that I can toss if I destroy them on a plant tour or I damage them or they don't come back from the cleaners.

(newyorker @ May 15 2005,14:40) What are you doing in Vietnam (besides making the local tailors happy)?
i run a public relations consultancy here
Sounds like you're really having a good time in Vietnam, running the consultancy, making lots of money, and spending it in a land where everything is so affordable. The suit looks great, do you think your shirt sleeves might be a bit short?

I would suggest that the waist suppression is not enough but then I am a fan of Huntsman's style.

Vitenam likely has fine tailors since it was a French possession for some time.

First of all, this is a good looking suit and a great value. Since you are inviting comments I'd say that besides the thing with the back line of the pants there is some imbalance to be seen in the front of the jacket.

Seen from the front, the sides seem to pivot around the upper button so the bottom button does not line up with the buttonhole. Judging from the side view, it could be that the part around the hips is just too snug. If let out a little you could get a more relaxed line or perhaps longer vents would solve this.

The shoulders seem to be a little tight, judging from the horisontal ripples across the back.

Have fun, Bjorn
