I just posted this on a thread that was started on the buying/selling forum. I am thinking it my get more views and be more helpful here.

I just ordered 3 pairs of shoes (Allen-Edmonds, on sale) from shoes.com and used luckybreaks7 coupon code for an additional 25% off. It worked!! I ordered Clifton in black calf leather, Delray in brogue suede and McClain in chestnut burnished calf. The total, including tax and UPS 2nd day, was $564.92. The UPS 2nd day was only $17.50. I can't wait a whole week for new shoes to be delivered; I'm just like a kid waiting for a new toy! I still have lambert oxford in chili grain calf on my "wish list". I've done enough damage for this week.

I am really glad I found this thread. I had already been looking at these shoes and trying them on (Nordstrom, Macy's), but was going to go with some discontinued models on eBay because of the $$.

My old dress shoes (including Kenneth Cole's; forgive me, I didn't know any better) are being donated. My housekeeper is sending them to the Philippines. I'm not sure how many people there wear size 11 though.

Nice tip, thanks. For their sale shoes, it comes out to $171. Not bad for new, returnable AE firsts.

I've cross-posted this question to the thread in the Buy/Sell forum (hope that's OK).

I like the Westgates, but I'm concerned about sizing.

I tried on a pair a little over a year ago at a local DSW. As I recall, they were either a half- or full-size smaller than my usual 9.5, but I was surprised to discover that they fit fairly well (at least lengthwise). It was a very narrow size (B?), but I seem to recall that if it had been more like a "D" that the shoe would fit fairly well.

Does anyone have any insight? True-to-size, or should I size down by a half or full size?

I tried on AE shoes from several different lasts. 10 1/2D seens to fit me best. I usually wear a 10 1/2 to 11 in a medium width in most shoes. When they measured my feet at Macy's, my left foot is 10 1/2 and my right foot is 11 (both medium width). Whenever I buy shoes that run narrow, I wear 11 (sometimes 11 1/2). AE does not seem to run narrow at all. Shoes.com has free shipping for both delivery and return; you are not out anything to try. You can also go to Macy's or Nordstrom and try on the shoe you are interested in (or at least a model made on the same last).

Thanks, rxcats. Nearby my office, there's a Macy's and a JosABanks (which I remembered also carries AE), and I dropped by on the way home. Unfortunately, neither had the Westgates, but the Cliftons fit nicely. Same last, as I understand, but obviously there may be other variations.

So, I decided to rely on the excellent return policy and buy a pair of Westgates and Cliftons. Unfortunately, the "luckybreaks7" 25%-off coupon does not appear to "take". That is, I applied it and the site claimed to have accepted/applied the coupon.

However, when I return to my basket, under "description of discounts applied", it reads:
You have applied the following promo code: LUCKYBREAKS7: 25% Off for Lucky Magazine Readers (25% OFF)

You Saved: $0.00
Going through the entire order process - stopping just short of "submit order" - doesn't work either. Not even $0.01 off the original price!

Am I doing something wrong, or does shoes.com simply not like the cut of my, um, discounting jib?

Ricardo, that's odd. I had the Clifton in my cart from a previous session when I applied the code and it discounted it. I also added AE Hale and both shoes were discounted. I ended up just taking the Hale, but the discount worked. Although, I did get charged sales tax which was 6.25%. Weird because sales tax here in California is 8.25%.

I used it. It worked. I wonder if it was limited in the number of uses, or if they saw an activity spike and shut it down?

I just went online and tried using the coupon code again just to see if would work. I got the same thing; it said 25% coupon was applied, but it wasn't. I guess the coupon either expired or they have desided not to allow it to be stacked with the sale price. I am glad I used it before "whatever" happened. My shoes are already shipped! I can hardly wait until Friday.
