If the vote goes for the Landon, how will that extra detail at the back be handled? Will the heel cap and strap be shark too?
Would it be possible to have a version with a shark body, shark side panels, shark heel cap, and shark strap?

This reminds me of a skit from Monty Python (Spam).

We will cross that bridge then, but we have a very limited amount of shark so we are going to have to be mindful of how much we are using per pair if that makes sense.

*Edit- not as limited as I thought apparently, but production doesn't want to do all shark because it's got a high damage rate.

Something to keep in mind:

If we do navy shell and black I can do 15-20 pairs max. If we do black and black, I might be able to do more.

*Edit, I will be able to do many more if we use black shell.

does GMTO mean the Landon will offered in other widths besides EEE, D & B???
could I request a 14 E in the Landon, if not I want to change my vote to Higgins??

Decided to wear some overwhelming shoes for a very underwhelming dinner pickup. As a ******** (or burritohead, or tortahead, or whatever you want to call yourself when you've eaten as much mom and pop Mexican takeout food as I have), I can feel a little bit of my soul dying inside this Chipotle. Remind me the next time Mrs. Donkey's school has a fundraiser here to just write them a check and go out for real Mexican takeout instead.

Anyway, @marker2037 inspired me to break out my Higgins Mill version of his Hamiltons (with the same Guarded Goods laces, if I'm not mistaken). Sorry that the lousy lighting doesn't show just how beautiful these things have become in the past year I've had them.

My initial vote was for Landon in navy/black but thinking more on it I doubt I'd spring for it due to concern that navy would be too dark and end up looking just mis-matched rather than contrasting.
I think this comment about navy/black is spot on. All black will be killer.

An unexpected eBay find arrived on my doorstep today, just in time for Wingtip Wednesday. Years ago, I bought a pair of brown Cronmoks in 11.5 D on clearance, and could just barely get my feet into them, even after a lot of swearing and shoehorning. I mean, sure, I do a lot of swearing and shoehorning every day, but that pair refused to comply. I kept looking for an 11.5 E pair, but there weren't any to be found as the stock eventually evaporated.

A couple years ago, I put a search in on eBay for Cronmoks in 11.5 because, goshdarnit, I really like the look of them in blue. What can I say? I had an itch I needed to scratch. Every once in a blue [Cronmok] moon, a D-width would show up, but I remembered the lessons of before. So, when these 11.5 Es popped up in my alert, I put a bid in on them and waited. They weren't new, but they are first quality with less than a dozen wears on them, based on the sole and lack of creasing. They also came with the original box and bags. Sure, they were more than I wanted to pay, but that's just because I'm a cheapskate, and some tool bid against me and drove up the price to the higher end of what I was willing to pay. Regardless, they're now mine. Tonight, I'll spend some time cleaning them inside and out and popping in some shoe trees.

I'd like to say everything is perfect, but I've come to realize that I'm never going to get a perfect fit with the 65 last. I just cannot dial it in. I've got a narrow heel, higher-than-normal instep, and a width pretty much halfway between D and E. To get the length, width, and instep sorta-right on the 65, I need an 11 EE. The problem is that the heel gives me tons of side-to-side movement. I don't like that feeling at all. The Cronmok (and all 65 last footwear) in 11.5 E is a bit long, a touch wide, and just slightly loose in the heel. With thick enough socks, it becomes tolerable enough all around. Moving forward, I'm crossing off anything that comes on the 65. It's just not worth the frustration.

Of course, now that I've done this, I'm sure AE will reissue the Cronmok, but this time on the 201 last or the 1757, and I'll cry like I just finished watching Terms of Endearment and Brian's Song back-to-back.

Now, I sit and wait to find out what the upcoming non-shell Trunk Show is going to look like. Ashley posted that list of shell SMUs after I'd already sent off the payment on these Cronmoks. If that pair of bourbon First Avenues in 11.5 D had been shaved or in blue shell and had come with a v-tread sole, instead of the JR sole, it would have been a no-brainer to forego the upcoming show. But, I've got a good feeling about what's coming up, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a really cool HM will come exactly the way I've always wanted.

Congrats on your purchase! I was watching those as well and decided not to bid. I think that’s happened with us maybe another time. I’m trying to be more mindful of staying in my sizes vs right on the edge and not having the right fit. Regardless, nice pickup!

I'm definitely hoping for all black. I'd buy navy if that's what came up- but definitely prefer all black.

Here’s a pair made with brown and black.
Or is it burgundy and black? I’m colorblind, so I guess it could be either.
It’s not a Higgins Mill, but it gives you an idea.

I think that I like this better than navy/black or black/black.

What do YOU think?

Click here to take the poll

Alright gentleman.
I am excited to announce that a small group of us are attempting to launch the first GMTO in several years. We are doing a cordovan and shark boot, and we have narrowed it down to a few options, and we'd like a show of hands to see who would be interested in what.

We are choosing between black shell/black shark or navy shell/black shark and we are choosing between the Landon and the Higgins.

A few key points:

1. In order for this to be approved, we need to agree one ONE collective set of specs.

2. We need to have at least 20 participants, and this will be first come, first serve.

3. Once we iron out the details here and I know who is interested in this platform, I might open the ability up to the FB thread to get our remaining participants.

4. This will set the tone for future gmtos, so I cannot stress enough for important it is for us to try to come to an agreement together.

If you are interested, please take the poll above. By all means, if you suspect you know someone who might participate, send them this way.

Whoa, exciting!

Landon is still ahead by quite a bit.

JR is still the majority preference for sole

Navy shell/black shark still has a slight edge but black shell/black shark is closing in.

Let me ask you guys this: for those of you who voted black shell...would you be down for Navy if it kept the win?

A second poll may eventually need to happen.

Submitted my vote. I voted Black/Black HM. I found it difficult to visualize the Navy/Black in my mind, but I'm sure I would be in for one anyway, same if it was for Landon. But a nice rugged HM with shark would take the cake, IMO.

Anyone have any experience with the Kenilworth? I got it on sale for 152 with tax. I consider that a steal. I tried on a pair in black, but ordered brown. What's your take on it?

So far I have 17 votes for navy, and 13 for black.

I admit there is more interest here than I thought there would be, and it's only been one day.

I can do 15-20 max if we do navy.

Do we want to go with the majority vote and exclude at least ten people who may have been fine with either color ultimately regardless of their preferences, or should we note how many of you are interested in the project and consider black a little harder?

I don't want to overly influence you, I just want to make sure that I can help get as many of you something special as I can. If we do Navy, I probably already have more people interested than I can help at this point.
