Probably will not get a lot of traffic, given Sty-Fo's skew towards teh yoots, but for us folks on the wrong side of 50 a place to talk all things post-work life. FIRE cohort welcome too.

Last week or two I've been researching Ajijic in Mexico. Apparently it's getting so popular prices have risen in "Gringoland" but you can still rent a fully furnished, three bedroom house in a good area for about 1k a month, to include maid service and gardener. It's an hours drive from Guadalajara and have to admit I'm thinking about maybe spending a few months or more there at some point. It's sits at 5k altitude on the shore of Mexico's largest lake so the climate is very temperate.

I used to not count SS into my retirement planning but now I have changed my mind and figure with all the talk of basic income SS will be kept going. That said I figure at some point, probably in the 2030s, they'll means test it.
