SWD user here, figured I’d ask the gurus in CM for some suit advice!
Going to a wedding, suit is “Loden” colored (comes off as a very dark olive). Already settled on black shoes and white tie. I wanted to be a bit flamboyant and have a bit of fun with it, so instead of a boutonnière I’m going for this dangly brooch thing - brass with jade accents.
My question is, what are my options for ties - what color(s) can I go with? Solid or patterned? I’m not looking to like, match everything perfectly, I just don’t want it to look terrible. Like, should I just play it safe and get something solid black, or can I have more fun with it and go for a patterned pink (examples)?
Secondary questions:
- I know the “rule” for socks is matching the color of the trousers, but I doubt I can get a perfect match. Would black work and match the shoes?
- What is classier - trouser cuff or no? I’m sure this is subjective, but I just wanted to survey the crowd before I get my pants altered.
Thank you everyone! Dumb questions I know, I swear I’m not a baby. I just wear a suit like once a year and am very inexperienced with breaking any “rules” (my usually suit order is navy or grey and easy peasy)
