If you're doing fine on the shirt and shoe front I don't think you need to purchase anything.

Do people have any thoughts about cotton sweaters or cardigans as outer layer, for warm weather? If they are indeed an option, any brands to keep an eye on?

You're just sniffing around for something else to consume. You have a wardrobe that could only be pulled together by a knowledgeable person. At this point, you should just wait until you can actually articulate for yourself what you "need" next.

But then, I'm much more small time than you, and completely cool with that. PG's combo of style and simplicity is great.

I have bought 2 sweaters and 1 cardigan in sea island cotton by John Smedley. Good value if you find them below 50 pounds. They are quite slim fit and I used them under a sportcoat or a blazer in autumn and winter. Don't know if they would wear hot in summer.

Here in Italy I started wearing lighter weight stuff last month. Most of my coats are already in storage. I've mostly leaning towards the lighter weight fall/winter jackets. All the heavy sweaters are in storage. It's either thin light weight sweaters or cotton.
