l particularly hate celebrity advertising. Not into things being sold by phoney people (people that act for a living)

jesus, how do you avoid TV ads except not watch TV? ( if this is the case I've self enlightened myself)

I think that the Dolce&Gabbana ads actually are biasing me away from even entering their store. I often pass by it, and if it wasn't for the ads I sure would have entered to have a look.

l just normally read a book or stare at something until l hear all the horrible noise (adds) stop, then l know the adds have finished. lt gives me a real thrill knowing that the horrible advertsing people have not got through to me. l honestly have no idea who is advertising what. Voice advertising (radio, t.v) is way below me, l am not a mindless sheep.

you should buy one of those nifty tv hard drive recording thingies, that way you can just "tape" whatever you are watching and fast forward through the ads. or come to france, they are trying to ban commercials from public TV. which is actually watched in France.

l actually have one of those DVD/Video machines but l don't know how to work them. Even working my t.v is a nightmare. l'm not very clever with technology. l hate all the remote control stuff, coloured images and digital stuff. Just make it simple (one button to press) and l am happy. Why can't t.v be in black and white like it used to be.

Remote controls annoy me as much as my wife.

I probably never would have bought or leased one anyway, but:

  • BMW - Several years ago they ran a spot on TV that said somethin like: "A BMW owner reconizes the sound of their car like they recognize the cry of their child."
  • Range Rover - The spots that trying to suggest that one could vault t aristocracy just bey being behind the wheel of a Range Rover. In particular was the spot with a procession through an east asian village bearing some royal in a litter behind white screens. When the Range Rover pulls up on a path purpendicular to the procession he commands his serfs to stop. Then he sticks out his hand to signal that the Range Rover may pass through the procession.

These spots epitomize to me what BS Madison Avenue puts in print, on our monitors, and on the airwaves. Not to mention how malleable they think the public (at least the arriviste segment of it) must be, and probably actgually is.

SWMBO and I still refer back to these spots to mock and show contempt for new spots that are as pretentious.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
