Today's Hober is the SF-approved and often pictured navy grossa grenadine. Here is my version in action (6-fold construction).

Excellent, Claghorn. I have the forest green fina and wish I had gone with the prometeo or grossa instead. That's my favorite Hober grenadine color.

I just put in an order for this. Does the 6-fold not make it absurdly thick? I talked to David about getting a knot similar to most Tom Ford ties and he said the standard construction for their grenadines should produce a fairly large knot.

Anyone have pics of the plum raw silk? Looks quite dark on the Hober website.

The slate looks close to navy. Is it?

The slate and navy are fairly close but are distinct IRL. My iPhone pic makes them appear closer in shade than they are in reality. The navy is a fairly deep shade while the slate is more muted. Think of new unwashed blue jeans versus the same jeans after a number of washes.

I don't find the 6-fold absurdly thick. In my orders I request that the tie form a medium knot (ie, not huge and not small) and David makes it happen. :D

How much larger of a weave is the prometeo than the grossa IRL? Anyone have both and can make a comparison?

Unfortunately, I got an email saying the fabric is actually out of stock.... maybe a green instead?

edit- just kidding, green is out of stock too....

This tie has been shown a number of times in this thread (including the very first post). Here is my version of it in the wild. English pattern #6 in 3-fold construction.
