Preparation is key.
James Bond doesn’t just rock up on a date with a fine Italian underwear model. No, he prepares and preparation is key.
To leave her dazzled in most first date situations, you’ve got two main things to take care of:
1. Your skin
2. Your hair
Pollution, sweat and general grime all leave your skin looking and feeling dull – Not what you want! We recommend cleansing your face whilst you’re in the shower. Get rid of all those pollutants and leave your skin silky smooth. Our favourite cleanser is the Elemis Deep Cleanse Facial Wash, which packs the cleansing punch you need for that deep clean, but light enough not to dry out your skin.
Now, your face is clean right? Wrong.
Most men will leave it here, but you’re not most men and she’s not most girls. You need to exfoliate to make sure all the dirt is completely gone and prevent any signs of ageing. You want to age like a fine wine and not a stilton cheese, which is which is why this stage is so important. We recommend the Lab Series Invigorating Face Scrub to take down the remaining grime and leave your skin looking fresh and bright.
Now to finish off, you need to sooth your freshly cleansed skin. We highly suggest using a moisturiser that contains an SPF to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Our favourite and relevantly named is the Triumph & Disaster Gameface Moisturiser Tube.
It’s no great surprise, but great hair doesn’t start with the styling, no it starts with a great cut. It’s important your barber knows what you want (We suggest taking pictures with you) and you go often to keep your style in place. We’ll pretend you already have a dapper cut in place and are ready for styling.
So you’re out the shower, you’ve just finished off getting your skin ‘date-ready’ and now you’re turning to your hair.
Whilst your hair is still wet and no matter what your style is, we like to put a fingertip of Uppercut Deluxe Pomade throughout and then blow dry into place. The pomade smooths out your hair and makes it more manageable for styling; this often forgotten step separates the rookies from the pros. Be a pro.
The next step will be dependent on your style. If you want a dry beachy look, use dry beachy clay. If you want a slicked wet look, use a slick wet pomade. Lacking in inspiration? We suggest checking out Robin James on YouTube. He’s good with this sort of thing.
Complete all these steps and not only will you have great skin, but you’ll have also her at ‘Hey my name is…’
