I hear you and you can and should wear your clothes however you want. That said, if you are looking to 18 East to make work-appropriate tailoring, you are going to be disappointed. The jackets are designed and constructed to wear like like shirt jackets, cardigans, and really any other non-tailored top layer you’d throw over a tee.

Call me crazy, but I was wearing the Jespers like old timey 1960s vintage BB oxfords and letting them get all rumpled up underneath my Brera/Kell suit this summer. Maybe not entirely work appropriate, but definitely the sort of riff on classic that I’m into these days.

This reminds me that I desperately desire more Jespers in more fabrics, especially heavyweight oxford cloths of any color and pattern. Such an awesome shirt.

Regarding the rainshadow: I really like the short Instagram video for it. It feels very light with the music. If I hadn't recently bought the Cascade shell, it would have motivated me to buy Rainshadow.

Thanks. Working on more video content to come. Biggest difference between the two styles (aside from pocketing) is fit. The Rainshadow is shorter and boxier. The Cascade is not as roomy (but not slim at all) and longer. I love and wear both but - at nearly 6'4" - I prefer the Cascade.

Ah, interesting. I have several wolfs and just use them as work shirts. my TTS is 52-53" chest and I wear some other XXL 18 East sweaters I have over a wolf so…
TL;DR: I have no idea what I'm doing.

Highly recommend the Wythe oxfords if you’re looking for a more tailoring / work appropriate button down (also have no idea how formal you gotta be).

Well, to give you context—whenever I wear a button-up shirt while on a Zoom I am guaranteed to get questions if I have an interview today. Ahhh, software engineering.

But I've chosen to improve my wardrobe for myself.

No plans but I feel pretty confident in saying that there is no complexion that washed indigo doesn’t suit. It’s light blue, which goes with every single color. 🤷‍♂️

Some thoughts I had from visiting the store today, basically just rifled thru all the newer outerwear but for the tweed bomber, nanga collab, and the new Holland (it is a hefty jacket in person).

- Drew Wavy Geodome Quilted Puffer - I have the Tracks quilted jacket in Kelp from last year, so I really came in to see if this jacket would displace that one from being my favorite winter jacket. The fabric feels awesome and the design of this looks great from all sides, it's really eye-catching the unique patch construction, but the interior pockets are tiny little sideways zip pockets, unlike the 2 huge interior pockets I dump everything into in the Tracks jacket.

- Hooded Mountain Parka in Brown Double-Weave Jacquard - Love the weight and fabric selections here, the closure at the chin, bungee-adjustable hem and hood. Medium cut was surprisingly long both in the body and especially the sleeves. Feels like an iteration and improvement on the double-weave crinkly indigo-colored jacket I got a year ago. Love the visual balance of the pockets, it's frankly the way the sleeves and body drape on this that let me down.

- Atlas Jacket in Midnight Nylon - Opposite the parka, I really love the way the sleeves are darted on this jacket, which doesn't come across in the online photos, fit awesome on my arms. Fabric felt great at the exterior and wearing. Looks like the same strings from the sweatshirts are being used both for the chin closure and the hem. Seems good. It's just the small exterior pockets, and lack of any front pocket location comfortable for my arms, that made me not want to get this one (also have an engineered garments atlantic parka in a lightweight navy polyester, so this'd have to displace that; close).

I think all 3 of those were just slightly off from buys for me..

- The tweed selected for the recent bomber and vest is a really handsome and colorful fabric in the store's light.
- The two garments in the "Stars and Stripes" pattern look great (patchwork strichtarn is pandering to me lol), but the shacket is too lightweight for me, and I wish the pants had slimmer cargo pockets and belt loops.
- The East Studies ESCEP jacket has this really fun asymmetrical double pocket ('foraging pocket,' the web description says) that slings along its left side .. the pile and its color are kind of a nonstarter for me, but cool design, probably really cozy to wear around on a cold day.

Anyway, nothing I rushed to buy new right now. It's nice at least feeling all the fabrics in store.
