The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

I have a pair of MTM trousers that are a little loose at the waist. The funny thing is the looseness is all at the back, the front feels fine. Is it possible to bring in the waist only at the back?

    Rozsnyai shoes

How did you find the fit of your first pair on the custom last from Springline? Curious to understand whether Springline got the fit just right first time, or whether you needed Rozsnyai to make adjustments to the last for subsequent orders.

Have you tried asking about it on the shoe care thread on here? There's some fairly knowledgeable folk about this forum that might know how to rescue them. This is the Hurricane in Kudu leather yes? I'm not really at all familiar with Kudu, but I understand it's an inherently wrinkly leather...

Men's wear/high end shoe stores in Dublin?

@JFWR curious to hear how you got on with your Dublin trip, was the shopping as underwhelming as we anticipated?

    MTM in the UK…

That's fair enough, I think when you're having something made it's really important to be on the same wavelength. I was happy with my MTM from Redmayne and would definitely go back.

    MTM in the UK…

Redmayne is worth considering too, Tom visits London regularly, or you could head up to Wigton if you fancy some sight seeing in Cumbria.

    Rozsnyai shoes

I asked for a mid brown calf, I think it was #14 based on their leather selection. I really like the colour, but they mentioned to me at the time that the leather manufacturer had stopped making that particular colour and were worried they didn't have enough of it left to complete the pair. It...

I have the Murton, but in brown calf. I also have the Jarrow in the Chicago tan CXL (not sure why it's called tan as it's a dark brown) Personally I really like the look of the Murton and think it would look great in the CXL.

Think this is the strongest argument for putting the shoe trees in straight away alright. I'm not entirely convinced on the drying out aspect, i.e. if the shoe tree absorbs the moisture... where does that moisture go? The wood can only absorb a finite amount of moisture. I think on the...

**The Official Shoe Care Thread: Tutorials, Photos, etc.**

Looking to gauge some opinions on the use of shoe trees on wet shoes. Typically if my shoes have gotten wet in the rain, I will leave them for a day or so without the shoe tree, to allow them to dry out. If they get really wet, I'll stuff them with dry newspaper for a few hours to draw out the...

Great to get some different insights here, particularly from people in the trade. I can totally see why you don't want to be "aspirational" about your physique when commissioning clothes I.e. having a jacket cut for the traps you don't have and trousers cut for a waist circumference you wish you...

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

This has been on my mind as I'm planning a new suit soon. This advice makes perfect sense, i.e. don't stand unnaturally. However like many desk workers my 'natural' posture is awful, I.e. rounded shoulders, forward head and pelvic tilt. I know how to consciously correct this into good posture...

    Rozsnyai shoes

This thread could do with more photos! As promised an update from me on my first pair with Rozsnyai. I had these made MTM, I think I first contacted them in January and received the complete shoes by the Summer. I went MTM as I have real difficulty finding shoes that fit, having narrow...

My guess is he's using a belt sander to remove & flatten the outer layer of the original outsole in order to glue to the new vibram sole on top. Looks good!

Can you have your tailor make polo shirts and t-shirts?

They're not bespoke, but "son of a tailor" do custom t-shirts which allow you to adjust lenght, shoulder, chest, waist and sleeve lenght. Choice of fabric is pretty limited to solid colour basics though. I've used them before and been happy with the result.

Covid accelerated dress code de-formalization - true or false?

M&S in the UK have stopped selling suits at over half of their 250 largest stores due to plummeting sales since COVID. Appears to have accelerated a trend in declining sales... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-58374306
