how important is the selvage line?
Dont APC make all their jeans form the same selvegde fabric?? Denimbar is so right, selvedge is a design nod to history, just like painted back pockets... a while ago one would only find this particular 'nod' on japanese brands who happened to use better denim- artisanal brands were the only...- v84

Recognizing Selvage
"selvedge" denim is just denim that's been imported - its just marketing speak for imported fabric really - often its better quality but not allways. You cannot get black selvedge, if you have....then its probably fake selvage. Re size - Take your ACTUAL waist and multiply it by your age -...- v84

Dying Leather Boots Because I'm Too Poor for Cdiems
Are those the reverse calf leather? That is going to be a tricky texture to achieve but maybe with repeated sanding and dying (sp?) you could get close. Brandos are the boots id go for for this look, infact I already plan to. I did ask on a buttero sizing thread for some guy to post a pic...- v84

I love these, I probably wont get them as ive just bought some costume nationals black slip on work boots. But yeah I really like these timeberlands, they would look great with amerkaji, repro sort of stuff, canes and a flathead plaid mmmmm They do two versions a full leather one and a waxed...- v84

Help me with a new look!
Saw an american in birmingham yesterday, he was a big guy wearing an overcoat. Why dont you invest in a really nice long over coat? You could wear it with jeans and a nice jumper or lighter top and wear some smart shoes ( loakes or something, chelseas maybe? ) Or some cool boots like the black...- v84

Just get whatever jeans you like, if you think they are good then for all intents and purposes they are good! Dont feel bad about trying stuff on in boutiques with no intention to buy, just remember your already in the store passing other products, and if the service is good you should return...- v84

How many pairs do you actually wear?
I wear loads, but its nice to have options even though the majority of my options look exactly the same to everyone else! Currently "in rotation" PBJ005-Eternal 868-SugarCane Edo Ai 40500-Samurai s5000bk-APC new standards indigo- APC NS Grey-Howies jeans and cords...... I also have samurai...- v84

Anyone heard of Chimala jeans?
Yup - but im dubious, they are available from denim bar but ive noticed the charcoal ones are 5% polyurethane or something - weird. Kinda cool designs, I guess the denim must be good, I havent felt it but id presume that for less money you could get a jean with much more interesting fabric...- v84
