    Pairing oxford shoes with chinos

I have to say how much I appreciate the discussion between @acapaca and @dieworkwear I'll say that in part because I know where the "norms/rules" derived from that though I admire "classic menswear" (CM) and draw inspiration from it, I don't always "follow" it. Part of me feels like if I...

Gaziano & Girling Appreciation & Shoe Appreciation Thread (including reviews, purchases, pictures)

Thanks for the reply. I suspect the same, I just wish TG73 was a bit softer (might to do an MTO for their soft chisel). It's funny because the GG06 feels roomier everywhere else, except the instep. Just keep trying to make sense of that. I suppose time will tell, as I wear the GG06 a few more...

Gaziano & Girling Appreciation & Shoe Appreciation Thread (including reviews, purchases, pictures)

Odd question for folks. I bought my first two pair of G&G during the end of last year - a black RTW Oxford (named just Oxford) on the GG06 Last and the Hayes on the TG73 Last. The Hayes seems to be more comfortable, particularly over the laces/instep. The Oxford on the GG06 pinches me just a...

Are Gurkha Trousers a Trend or Here to Stay?

I think that's fair, I'd say that the more tailored versions work like a slightly less versatile version of a chino. I think Ghurka's work better casually. Not that I think this is a good thing, but I have two pair - 1 in light grey flannel and 1 in stone colored linen/cotton from suit supply...

Are Gurkha Trousers a Trend or Here to Stay?

As always, Simon Crompton did a good job really categorizing those paradigms. Thanks, that is useful. I find the difficult part is mixing them and finding ways to make them work for you, but I suppose that's part of the journey.

Are Gurkha Trousers a Trend or Here to Stay?

I think you and others give wonderful advice btw, but for someone like me who's still figuring out their look (and lacks confidence sometimes, generally - which is really my problem and no one else's) it can be hard. I do want to thank you for the knowledge you are willing to share here and on...

Are Gurkha Trousers a Trend or Here to Stay?

Agree with both comments here - though on the first one - some of us like to think of this forum as a place to learn, get advice, just chat with others - but point taken on the "dedicated to narcissism". On the second one, also agree, though that can be difficult given that so many people...

Are Gurkha Trousers a Trend or Here to Stay?

I would add to my earlier statement to say, yes - I think they make the most sense as part of a more casual look. I don't know that I agree about the fact that they need to fit "loose", as I like even my jeans fairly tapered (not tight), but I think they do tend towards casual.

Are Gurkha Trousers a Trend or Here to Stay?

I really like Ghurka pants myself and have two pair, but I think even now they are more of an "occasional piece to wear." I think they work best as a compliment to a wardrobe and work best in moderately tapered style with less generous double pleats - Rubinacci does them particularly well in my...

Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

@mina262 and @Starlito - thank you that's incredibly helpful. Also thanks to everyone else that's shared thoughts. I found that G&G fit about perfect....I have a low volume foot with medium-ish instep, and a thin UK E width (though I find most of the general sizing rules have applied well to...

Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

Do people wear the same size on the Belgravia loafer on the 184 last as they do on oxfords? I'm considering buying my first EG in the next few months, and if I do it will definitely be a brown suede Belgravia loafer - but wondering if I should size down or not (since I'm in Northern CA, it's...

Help Please - GG Corniche Loafer vs EG Belgravia Loafer

Thanks for the feedback. Hmm....interesting take on the Corniche, the opening doesn't quite concern me, but I see what you mean about the heel. I suppose the thing that attracts me is the very thing that makes me a bit less versatile - its sleekness. Your point is well taken on the relative...

Help Please - GG Corniche Loafer vs EG Belgravia Loafer

Trying this again, a bit differently. I have decided to approach my purchases as a capsule wardrobe for maximum versatility given the cost (though I may have already mucked it up a little, as you'll see). My inspiration for this approach was this article -...

Suede Tassel Loafer Advice (GG Corniche vs EG Belgravia)

I have recently taken the plunge into "high-end"/"best quality" ready to wear (RTW) goodyear welted shoes. I was hesitant because of the cost, and wondered what I was getting for 2-3x the cost of a Carmina or J Fitzpatrick shoe. After getting my first Gaziano & Girling (GG), I now understand...

    Suitsupply NYC

Just checked, and same here. Also looks like they've added Apple Pay to checkout. They may be going through backend updates before they receive a ton of buyers....so things may be wonky.
