Question Regarding Brooks Brothers Return Policy
I have about 14 unworn BB shirts bought over the last two-three years which still are folded with price tags, some still in the plastic...I actually have a few others which I've worn and discovered they are tents, something I didn't notice in the store - mea cupla. I went to Shirtmaven's shop yesterday - He's a very nice man to work with, and it's a much nicer and more organized shop than Allmeier, fwtw. I am weeding through the cheaper shirts I own, and getting the halfway passable things altered....I went through my Brooks Brothers shirts last...- pgoat

Shirt Alterations Shop in East 20s of Manhattan...
I just popped in there today. They seemed real nice and I may bring them a few old shirts to try slimming the sides. They said $12.50 for darts, $15 to take in the sides, $20 if the arms needed re-setting.- pgoat

Taking in sides of Leather Pea coat?
Thanks so, would you look for a leather place (cobbler, bag repair, etc) or just a place that does alterations, but hopefully is good with leather? And if the latter, is that just a word of mouth thing or is there some way to know if they are good?- pgoat

Yes -- it can be raised. Very easy to do while you're taking in the sides. I'm assuming they use part of the sleeve to "build" up the lower part of the armhole space?- pgoat

Thanks guys...donate is how I'm leaning for this first batch (I have the biggest ones up for grabs first). Gads, my place slims both arms and sides for less than $20. Are you sure they're not quoting you prices for separate alterations? If they're doing both at once, it shouldn't be $50. fwiw, I've gotten quotes for simple things (hemming pants, etc) in manhattan that were double what is charged in...- pgoat

A cleaner that also does alterations should be able to carry outthis relatively simple process, however it is still a good idea to do a test run with a shirt you would not regret losing if the results are poor.
