Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

You are pretty much guaranteed a good job if you send them back to EG. Local cobblers are not all equal and I’m lucky that mine is one of the best in the country (they even do some of the repairs for a well known brand) and are less than half the price that EG charge.

I find the 184 last fine but 100 felt too small overall in the one pair I had. Both were E width.

You can get a cover sole put on and then replace that when it wears out

Personally I couldn’t size down between 72 and 202, the 202 would be far too tight.

That’s useful, thanks. I’m getting rid of a couple of pairs of Galways, both E width - I can’t get on with 82 or 202 Galways unless they are F width. Plus a pair of suede Sandringham, but they are 8.5 and E width.

A bit of selling advice, if I may. I’m going to be shifting a few pairs and wanted opinions on whether others have found selling in the SC buy and sell successful? Or should I just stick with eBay?

I use this kind in most shoes, and ones like BColl listed in loafers. I’ve got one pair of EG trees and they are nice, but don’t offer any real further benefits IMHO. The cedar ones like those below smell great as well.

Doak and denim works with Banbury and Newmarket, would probably also be ok with loafers. With split toe shoes it needs to be a less formal material - suede or grain - to work IMO. I also find Galways on 82 to be difficult to pair with denim, although it works in the picture above. Anyway, I’m...

No chance you could have dropped something on them? I’ve had a couple of small marks appear when I’ve worn a pair on a night out and must have had beer or similar spilt on them.

Additionally, if it was bought from the factory shop it will probably have a dark green box, and no shoe bags.

Wow, I started something with my value comment! To contextualise what I meant by it, I was thinking in relation to C&J as an example - at twice the price, are you getting twice the shoe? I don’t believe so. Is value the most important thing though? Clearly not - to me it’s a mixture of quality...

I love EGs, but there’s no pretending that they are good value at their retail price.

I like Dainite well enough, but it wears down a bit quickly in comparison with, say, Ridgeway.
