First time posting here --- sorry if this is the wrong subforum.
Is anyone else getting annoyed at "logo creep" over at LL Bean?
I own one of their anoraks and love it. It's four years old now and still in great shape, and I could easily layer it when it was colder. Now I have this "matching" jacket and love it as well. The design is my style, and I used to even think the logo complemented the whole thing. (Incidentally, is this blue Patagonia-looking LL Bean logo new? The anorak was the first I noticed it.)
This summer I was thinking about getting some casual shorts, and these look great --- except for the #!*@% logo! (Same blue, Patagonia-looking thing...) This is just excessive! I guess this one can be removed with a needle or scissors or whatever --- and I guess if I were a designer working at LL Bean I would feel that these shorts would be "too plain" without the logo. Still... can we count on some clothing manufacturer to put out clothes without garish logos? (I have a similar pair of shorts by Docker's where the logo is at the back hip, and subdued, so you can't see it --- best $10 at Nordstrom Rack I ever spent.) I don't want to become "the LL Bean guy;" I just want comfortable shorts to go to summer BBQ's in.
What prompted me to actually post something is this. They kind of ruined this sweatshirt putting the logo on --- even if its subdued. Come on! I had no intention of buying it, mind you, but still... I was admiring the understated classic design only to be disgusted by the unnecessary logo. They even have a gaudier version.
Anyone else getting disappointed by LL Bean's seemingly increasing use of the logo? I don't want to hate on Patagonia, but yeah... I don't remember ever seeing a LL Bean logo on anything wearing it growing up --- or maybe I'm just confusing it with Land's End?
