Thinking of adding to my summer tailoring wardrobe and wanted to hear from others about half vs quarter lining and then in particular whether a half/full canvas is a worthwhile addition to a summer weight/weave fabric or is it a little incongruous to have a heavier or structured chest with a jacket that is to be worn in hotter weather?

I think if it's high S wools than full canvas will improve drape without making any difference regarding warmth of the jacket.
But remember that summer is a time for more casual fabrics - seersucker, linens, it's blends and textures, so you can go even with completely unstructured jacket for that matter.
Also, I personally see no different between half and quarter lining. As long as it's cupri or silk, you'll be fine
