I don't listen to much hip-hop anymore, but I would consider Run The Jewels and Kendrick Lamar to be excellent counters to the notion that dere ain't no more good stuff. But I'm old, so what do I know?

EDIT: I responded from the last page thinking I'd hit the last comment. I see that my thoughts were captured above. :nodding:

DOUBLE EDIT: Murl, my dooooood. No Kendrick?

And here, I found myself trying to find some examples of casual style in this thread. All I see is guys who remind me more of Weird Al Yankovic than A$AP Rocky.

Damn we're getting pretty hardcore in rap analysis! You guys know way more than I do, it seems! And here I thought most people on here were Classical music and Opera types (ok that may sound a little stereotypical, I agree!).

Just to round out this discussion, Rocky is like SWD God. He even raps about Rick Owens and Raf Simons. You want to see fits like Rocky's, visit the other side.

I mean...come on. SF is a global community. Every station is not available to everyone. What NY, LA, Chicago, etc has may not be available in other parts of the US...let alone the World.

you can listen to them online and most of them do podcasts too

and damn. didnt realize how much i relate to tira's taste in music

All good but Skelethon did not get as much attention as it deserved. Probably the best album that year.
HEre is the list
Anything in bold letter is a classic Anything in Bold and Caps is a contender for GOAT list and most likely will become cannon in a few years Kendrick Lamar Section .80 GOOD KID MAAD CITY TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY Danny Brown The Hybrid XXX Old Big Boi Sir Luiscious Left Foot Freddie Gibbs Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs Cold Day in Hell Pinata El-P Cancer for Cure Killer Mike R.A.P. Music Run The Jewelz Pt1. Pt. 2 Ab Soul Control System KAnye West MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY Yeezus Big K.R.I.T K.R.I.T. Wuz Here Return of 4Eva Cadallacitca Curren$y Pilot Talk Das Racist Sit Down Man! Drake TAKE CARE FLYING LOTUS COSMOGRAMMA (Possibly imo the best album since Illmatic, maybe even in the last 30 years of any genre) UNTIL THE QUIET COMES YOUR’E DEAD Tyler the Creator Bastard Earl Sweatshirt Earl I Don't Like ****, I Don't Go Outside Gonjasufi Sufi & a Killer Roc Marciano Marcberg A$AP Rocky LiveLoveA$AP Action Bronson Blue Chips Blu NO YORK (A highly influential album)
Shabazz Palaces BLACK UP Lese Majesty
Rittz White Jesus Clams Casino Instrumental Mixtape Vol 1 Instrumental Mixtap vol. 2 Death Grips MONEY STORE Ka Pedigree Degree Kevin Gates Luca Brasi Story Mick Jenkins The Water Chance the Rapper 10 Day Acid Rap
Future Anything he has dropped since Pluto
Isaish Rashard Cilvia Demo Vince Staples Summertime 06 And there are dozens more I am missing. Also about booty shaking music and the difference between rap /hip-hop… ahem… That type of music has been part of the genre forever, even longer than the social/conscious branch. In my opinion everything IS Hip-Hop. There is just good Hip-Hop and bad Hip-Hop. A lot of people seem to forget that the radio has always been littered with booty popping music. Kind of like the old CM guys who see the past in rose tinted glasses and romanticize a false era where all our fave classics were blowing up the radio (When in reality it took Illmatic a decade and and De La Soul’s first two albums 2 decades to go platinum). As a matter of fact, the radio today is not as cluttered with this subject (Drake, Kanye, and all of his acolytes barely rap about these things). I omitted Joey Badass for a reason. 1999 is a good album but he is an overrated rapper. People like him because he fetishizes a certain era of hip-hop. Which to me is abit reductionist. I love boom bap. But why do I want a 17 year old re-enaacting Illmatic when his contemporaries are creating cosmic operas about the hood and the future of human condition that even Galactus can understand?
Great list. People who like 90s rap looking for something to listen to might want to start with Shabazz Palaces. DS2 on repeat all week. Some other newish artists doing some great stuff: Jonwayne Has-Lo YC the Cynic Lil Boosie (finally out of prison and making new music like crazy) Open Mike Eagle Schoolboy Q SpaceGhostPurrp Also the old heads aren't done. Pharoahe Monch out out PTSD last year and it's incredible. Nas put out Life is Good and showed everyone how to age gracefully.

Changed the undershirt after I saw the picture. Really stepping out of my comfort zone here...

Love it!

The simplicity, cleanness and understatement of the combo makes it an absolute winner. The only thing I'd change is the belt (I'd go for a brown suede one, to match the loafers).

Deets on the pants? BB maybe?

Thanks. I have a matching suede belt, but wanted to wear the navy woven. The trousers are from Eidos.
