Denim recommendation for short folks? Want to invest into some nicer jeans and realizing my options are limited. Looking for a lighter wash denim, but want to avoid hemming if possible.

Was looking at drakes archive and orslow offerings. But realized drakes mostly come in longer lengths. Orslow is a bit shorter but still longer than my preferred 28 inseam. What are you short guys doing for jeans?

I am 5'7''. Thanks gentlemen!

My own 2 cents is that I like the Orslow or 3 Sixteen denim much more than the Drake's models (they are also notably less expensive). Standard & Strange or 3 Sixteen will also do chainstitch hemming for your order.

Hate to say it, but as a fellow 5'7", I buy unhemmed jeans and hem them. Even the Orslow 107 Ivy cut isn't short enough. I've never found a satisfying way around paying the short tax.

yeah thats the sad reality I think I have to accept. I hem my dark wash jeans and chinos no problem, but I wanted to avoid that with light wash as I wanted to maintain the original hem. How do you deal with that on your light wash jeans? Euro hem/original hem?

TBH light wash denim isn't for me. I only wear dark and let it fade. Why would the wash matter as to whether or not you want to keep the original hem? If you order jeans from some place like Standard & Strange, as mentioned above and seconded here, they'll chain stitch for you so it'll be like the original.

Sorry pretty uneducated when it comes to denim, but with light wash jeans they have the worn/distressed hem no? I find whenever I hem light wash jeans the hem is too clean and looks nothing like the original.

Thanks to everyone on the last page whose fleecechat has caused me impulsively to shell out on the long sleeve buffalo check fleece.

These questions would doubtless be better served if posted to many of the denim-specific threads, but most good denim tailors will preserve the original hem if you're hemming light-wash or vintage denim. I had a pair of vintage 501s hemmed earlier this year and the original hem was preserved. I used Brooklyn Denim Co.

In my experience re-attaching the original hem makes the leg opening stiff and prevents the trousers from draping well (maybe I haven’t seen it done very well though).

There are small denim shops in most rich countries that offer chainstitch hemming (had it done in Germany and in France)

I can understand this quandary. Personally, I wouldn’t get my jeans hemmed and retain the original. Whilst the hem won’t be frayed it’ll not be noticeably different if you get it chain stitched. Also, I don’t mean to sound condescending but what about just turning your jeans up? If you buy selvedge then I think cuffing them looks fantastic as long as they’re not massive cuffs, which will only make your (or anyone’s) legs look shorter.

Can any kind soul inform me about the sizing of the rugby shirts? Usually a 54 in chore jackets.

Judging by the lookbooks, the rugby shirts tend to be worn with droopy shoulders.
