Hi all,

Looking at a designer suit with a description that it's partial canvas. I'm wondering if this is the same as a half canvas or if it's even less and just a way to increase price.

Hugo boss $2k suit that's on sale for $1k

The partial bit refers to the floating canvas. So it's part glued and part sewn... So basically this is a "tailored" choice for the lower budgets :)

I am at a suit specialist with Hugo Boss, and the suit you are looking into purchase is from our tailored line. All these have partial canvas construction, which does allow for a more comfortable, natural fit and also increases the lifespan of your coat.
You will also have fully functional buttons, and should also have 5 button kissing cuffs.

If the suit is not purchased in a hugo boss store, you can always PM me if you need any help. I have received a lot of help on these boards, and I am always willing to give something back...

My kindest regards,
Simone

There are much better options on market then Boss suit for $1k. You can buy 2 SuitSupply suits with same construction (half canvas), or get something really nice (like Pal Zileri, Canali, Corneliani) on discount, or if you know your dimensions and preferences, you can find something top notch on places like eBay.

Boss for $1k is likely a bad deal.

I did talk to OP in private messages.

I do agree that a Boss suit is too overpriced in the states. The suit he is refering to retails for roughly 1000 dollars in my store in Europe, while the one in the states retails for 1900 dollars or so.
I believe that a Boss tailored suit is roughly same price as a Canali suit in the states. The choice here is very clear: Canali is the better option. However in Europe where the prices are not similar, Boss is a great budget choice, where Canali is quite more expensive!

Edit: I see so many suits on sale ALL the time in the US (because of the huge department stores) make sure to shop at the right time.. There are so many bucks to save!
