Nice-looking everyday shoe?

I'm looking for casual everyday shoes that look nicer than my Chuck Taylor All Star Classics but not as dressy as my Rockport Oxfords.

I want to be able to wear these shoes to the grocery store with some utility shorts, but also to a low-key rooftop party with chino pants/shorts. My All Stars seem fine for grocery store trips, but they look too casual when I pair them with chinos. (The shoes are navy, but maybe white would look better?) So I really need something that looks appropriately classy with chinos but is also comfortable enough for all-day wear.

I was looking at the Allbirds Tree Runners, but I want to know if people think they're too casual to pair with chinos (either pants or shorts) at a party.

I was also looking at Johnston & Murphy's McGuffey Plain Toe and these three Ecco shoes.

I recently bought a pair of Skechers fabric slip-on shoes, they're comfortable and look reasonable with casual summer outfits, and more appropriate with chinos than athletic sneakers. They've got a bit of a dad vibe to them, but they are quite versatile and I can just throw them on when I need to walk the dog or run to the corner store.

I would look for a derby on the dressed down side, with a rounded shape and no decorations. They won't fit with sports shorts, but pretty much everything else is fine.

What's your budget?

This is an example of a derby that I would say is wearable with pretty much anything:

You can also find them with rubber or synthetic soles that are not too visible (but they are quieter and don't give you the same hang-ups as full leather soles):

Both of these are suede, I have a pair in standard leather that I like and use very often, but it seems it's not been part of their collection for a couple of years. I'm sure there are other brands offering similar styles in all kinds of leather.

I'm probably not like most here but I basically have 2 forms of dress - exceedingly formal or extremely casual. If I'm not wearing a suit and my black John Lobb's, more than likely I'm wearing shorts, khakis or jeans with my Sperry Topsiders. Though I do have several dark brown and almond oxford shoes from Scarpe Di Bianco and Crockett & Jones that I like to wear with jeans.
