Went out like this tonight but didnt love the look. Im in a japan on a mission to build a starter wardrobe. What doesnt quite work here? Or am I just finding it weird to dress in a more preppy way? Trousers and sweater is J Press (dont have it in my home country)

Also trying to decide whether to keep or return this vneck sweater. Is it too short/not flattering? Sweater and shirt are kamakura.

Lastly, what do you think of the fit of this ocbd (kamakura vintage ivy)? Should i take to a tailor to trim the waist a bit?

As always, ever grateful for the help! Arigato gosaimasu

I think you would benefit from chunkier, slightly looser sweaters. These ones are thin and feel very contemporary.

Shirt waist looks fine untucked.

I have several Cricket sweaters, so I'm a fan.
But I think you might need to size up. Are the sleeve cuffs rolled up? if not, you need one size larger. Also just raising your arm to take a pic is pulling the whole thing up above your belt.

I am going to use it as my personal advice thread as to not spam the forum, if you guys dont mind. Are these trousers too tight? My big thighs are so annoying when shopping rtw. I know the fit isnt great but is this passable?

I was thinking even at the first pictures, the trousers look tight. Granted, slimmer trousers have been the norm for a long time now, but for those of us with large thighs, it's really not a great look. Same as with sweaters, you would really benefit from a more relaxed fit. In the knitwear pictures, you can see the pockets standing out a bit, usually a sign the trousers don't fit that well.

Knowing this more roomy fit can be hard to find RTW, I'll recommend Rubatos officer chinos: they're great for those of us endowed with more mass on our legs, and my khaki pair are some of my most worn trousers.

Too tight I'm afraid. Thighs, calves, and hips are too strained. Go for larger sizes and take in the waist if necessary.

Yes I dont know why my dumb a55 didnt ask to try a bigger size at the store. Im hoping losing weight (i was on a cutting diet before this holiday) + some stretching from wear will make these look more passable
