Please don't go expensive if your jus starting. You could even go secondhand if the guides are in good shape and your reel has a secure fit. I'm no expert, but the technique is in your arms not the pole. Instead of sinking your bait with a weight your tryin to manually whip out enough line so you fly at the end of your line jus rests on the water surface maybe let it sink a little. When you get better more expensive gear is somtimes necessary, but fo a beginner just make sure you poles not too long to get stuck in any surronding trees. So I decided that I want to try fly fishing in the spring. Its always something that has interested me, but never tried it. I don't have any equipment, so I need a good starter kit. What is a good starter set-up? Links would be appreciated. Also, what the hell makes fly fishing rod/reels so expensive?

Cool thread, Lefty. Although I haven't been on the water for quite some time, I feel fishing, especially fly fishing, is one of the best things a human can do. I'm from So Cal, so the fish aren't really edible, and although I like to test my skills, I don't like to abuse the fish. You guys are givin me inspiration to get out there though, maybe to one of the nicer reservoirs. Thanks.Well done, Edward.
