East Coast Manager Going for a Silicon Valley Interview: What to Wear?

I'm a senior manager on the East Coast and I am going for an interview next week with a Silicon Valley startup in Sunnyvale, California. The position I'm going for is a East Coast position since they are expanding here, but I'm perplexed about what to wear to the interview.

The usual would be a navy or charcoal suit, white shirt, blue solid or striped tie, black shoes. However, my understanding is that the business environment is very different out there and I don't want to show up to a hippie commune looking like a "suit". The interview is for an East Coast regional management position (NY, CT, PA, DE, DC, VA) and the industry is in the energy sector. I would be expected in interface with clients etc.

What is the correct level of attire and is the classic interview get-up too somber?

Suggestions and comments appreciated.

In all seriousness though, if they're expanding to the east coast, they're gonna have to play by east coast rules... so they might not want to see someone who looks like west coast? Not sure though.

If you can't tell the difference between 'silicon' and 'silicone' there's not much that your clothes will do to help you, although you may come back with larger breasts than you went out with...
