I have 3 pairs of boot trees from Woodlore and like them. They support the shaft, which shoe trees do not, reducing sags and wrinkles - a little.

Note: A very practical boot from Herrings, the leather is buttery soft and have survived pub crawling, several BBQ and lots of mistreatment. These boots are a living proof of why GYW boots are an investment. I removed the pulling tab to avoid the pants getting stucked.

I agree with CC, I’ve got 8 of them and as far as I can tell, they don’t really add anything of significance.
