If you're in Melbourne, go to Urahara in Smith Street or Corlection in town. Sydney has Corlection and a place called Blue Works. There are plenty of Japanese brands that cut sensible, wearable jeans. I personally like Tank, but Japan Blue are also good and reasonably priced.

What are your go-to brands for Jeans? I did not realise that finding a nice pair of jeans that are not overly skinny or aggressively tapered was a difficult task, unless I am just looking in the wrong places.
Another vote for Berg and Berg. I mainly wear their Arthuro jeans in light and mid-wash (made in Italy, high-rise, only slightly tapered) and my indigo Type 133S from Bryceland’s. I’d give Drakes a miss; inconsistent quality and sizing.

Im looking for suggestions for a good Brisbane weather jacket or similar.
MJ bales good stuff is $649 and I can go to a tailorontheroad for $800.

I was thinking 2nd hand for best bang for the buck but I don't know where the good stuff is.
When i went and got sized by MJ Bale they said I was a size 40. As I know jackets are worth getting a decent one in I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck.

Spending $800 does seem i bit silly really but I don't know what is a good budget new or used is so I am open to suggestions and recommendations.

Hi all, will trawl back through the thread... but how are the top few options of business shirts these days? I now work (in Melbourne) at a firm where all males wear an annoyingly conservative attire (navy/dark great suits, either white or blue shirts), is what it is

To that end haven't had time to get acquainted with the options at hand these days. Have people used ProperCloth from Australia? Would have been convenient to have gone while I was in NYC, but my weight fluctuated with Covid-19 outbreak and a newborn...

Now firmly in Melbourne also, i'll want to add a few more suits, as well as an overcoat for winter. That's on me to research, but I welcome passionate views on the topic
Have used ProperCloth for shirts, Mawson Ossa (Sydney but does trunk shows) for suits.

what kind of jackets are you looking at? Tailor on the road doesn't look that great to me. It's all very short and skinny.

I have quite large calves so I have trouble with jeans being too skinny/tapered too. I'd avoid Nudie, their straight isn't even straight.
Uniqlo have Helmut Lang style jeans which are high rise and straight cut. Very stiff.
I like Edwin for something that's not too expensive and have a wide range.

The Australian tailor no-one of the forums ever use.
Clients read the comments here trashing him, and they are shocked because they know how good he really is.

So, in a moment of great rarity I'm going to be in Sydney conservative business dress for work in May with a few hours to spare if I play my cards right.

Planning on hitting up SuSu to get a measure on their standard suiting range (Havana block from memory) and see how it fits. Hopefully no alterations required, but we'll see. Also need some new business shirts and I see they sell plenty. I seem to have developed a fetish for wider lapels and this seems a good way to indulge that.

So, anyone here got any experience with them? As in how would they compare to, say Bale shirting? Or even (assuming fit works) Oscar Hunt given pricing at the top end is on par with their MTM?

Had a set of suits for a friends wedding made there late last year. As a tall and slim fellow, the fact they offer most things in a 38L has led me to start there for most things.

Custom suits were quite good, fit a wide range of body types fairly well. Their block is fairly neutral, slim without being skinny, slightly fuller than you may expect.

I've found their shirts good, but maybe a little delicate. Admittedly I am wearing them to teach practical subjects, so they have a hard life.

Keep in mind all their custom order work comes with no questions asked returns, which is a nice bonus.

Hi gents,

I'm about to put a few things on B&S tomorrow, but I thought I'd show them here first.

1) Chester Barrie sportscoat, ~size 38/48
2) Brioni sportscoat, size 39/49
3) Canali pants, size 34/50
