Vietnamese sandwiches just plain rule. i usually get them at Banh Mi My Tho here in Alhambra. hole in the wall joint with a max capacity of maybe 10 people standing, a B rating (wouldn't have it any other way). and you just can't beat the price, $2.25 for the beef version.Originally Posted by gamelan

There's ton of places in Alhambra/San Gabriel that sell these...and they all seem to be $3 or less. They open up at like 6am so you can get one for breakfast too

That's Tribeca price you're paying, it shouldn't cost more than $4 in Chinatown. Canal is always a zoo cold or not, there're two Vietnamese places right on Grand St by the B & D station that's not as hectic as Canal.

I eat Bun Thit Nuong at least monthly at Pho Cyclo, it's great. I wouldn't carry out from there though, because I have to park anyway, and sitting down for a sandwich would be unlikely. I do like to go by Saigon Deli on a nice day on my bike, pick up a couple sandwiches and something to drink, and go sit up at one of the parks on the Hill and eat them in the sun.Originally Posted by j

Those aren't traditional sandwiches, which, I suppose is to be expected for a neo-fusion type of Vietnamese restaurant that this place seems to be.
