    No need to condition the edges but you can get a nicer finish by applying cream. The wooden edge iron is a traditional tool that is usually used on the wet bare leather to compress the fibers before finishing with wax, I see that Paul Brunngard use it after the cream, maybe worth a try.

    Perfectly flush tips can be difficult because the curvature of the tips doesn't always match the sole curvature. That said the job seems a bit sloppy here with the lateral gaps but I wouldn't expect it to cause much trouble. The upper damage is just terrible, I would be pissed. Difficult to say...

    The whole point is to not have button holes so your alteration tailor can shorten the sleeves to your measurements and put the buttons holes at the right place

    I use that product for shoes maintenance and renovation. It has a cleaning effect on top of the conditioning that I like. I can also find it for cheap but I'm not sure of the availability out of France.

    Lightly wet the leather and sand with a fine grit pushing in one direction (not back and forth). It should get quite smooth this way
