The soles don't seem much worn (from the less than ideal picture) and the price is good. I'd ask for a picture of the lining at the heel area because it can be difficult to repair if worn out. No need to condition the edges but you can get a nicer finish by applying cream. The wooden edge iron is a traditional tool that is usually used on the wet bare leather to compress the fibers before finishing with wax, I see that Paul Brunngard use it after the cream, maybe worth a try.- florent

I don't know how they compare quality-wise but Le Mont St Michel was relauched a few years back as a more fashion brand and focused towards export (mainly Japan afaik) so no surprise they are be more pricey, while Le Laboureur still caters to the workers crowd (the cuts might be less refined...- florent

Perfectly flush tips can be difficult because the curvature of the tips doesn't always match the sole curvature. That said the job seems a bit sloppy here with the lateral gaps but I wouldn't expect it to cause much trouble. The upper damage is just terrible, I would be pissed. Difficult to say...- florent

I use that product for shoes maintenance and renovation. It has a cleaning effect on top of the conditioning that I like. I can also find it for cheap but I'm not sure of the availability out of France.- florent

Lightly wet the leather and sand with a fine grit pushing in one direction (not back and forth). It should get quite smooth this way- florent
