    Purchasing Aldens online is such a gamble these days. I had to return 2 pairs recently. The vamp lining doest lay flat on top of the shoe, causing this weird lump inside the shoe. Not to mention it being a little bit too creased for a new shoe. The 2nd shoe is barely factory seconds.

    I Usually wear 8.5E Barrie Last but Purchased 9.0D Van last LHS Suede, they fit great Purchased 9.0D Van Last Moc stitch snuff suede, fit way too tight, exchanged for 8.5E I feel the construction on the LHS has more give. And more structure even though both are unlined

    I usually wear 8.5E in Barrie last, and ended up getting a 9D for the loafers. Like you, I felt the a little pain at the top of the foot but it went away after an hour and also a little heel slip. Mine were suede though.
