You also mentioned this in the golf thread, didn't you? Does high-SPF sunscreen really not stop you from tanning?

I've never had a problem with this. If I really don't want to get any sun, I use the high-SPF stuff before I go outdoors and reapply liberally while I'm out.

Now, I'm going out on a limb here, but I would guess that some combination of hat, long pants, long sleeve shirt, sunblock, and staying indoors during the day might be effective.

Let me know if this works.

yep i did mention this in the golf thread. i was hoping to get more responses in this section of the forums.

I tried the high-SPF stuff (seriously like 110SPF $50+ dollar expensive stuff) and I apply once every 2 hours and it's not working lol.

i've been going out to the range at sunset and playing rounds at 6:30 but to no avail... i'm getting tan.

i'm wondering if it's because i used to be VERY dark when I was younger (due to playing golf ~8hrs per day weekends and 5+hrs weekdays)

Alternate days of SPF 15 and SPF 40+

One day you slightly tan, the next day you don't

Do you shave or exfoliate frequently? A fresh layer of skin will get tan more easily and last longer, potentially compounding your problem.

where do you live?

How about talking to a dermatologist to have him prescribe you something.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
