I chose a pair of eyeglasses today that fit my face well and were at the men's side of the store. The two women I was with agreed they looked good on me. When I came home today I tried finding the glasses online only to see that they were labeled as "female" on some sites, "unisex" on others, and "male" on another.

I called the store to verify, and the woman claimed they were unisex/men's, but I am really just wondering what you guys think. I don't want to pull a George Costanza here. They were Club Monaco brand.

Frames like those are most likely unisex, as are most plastic frames. I typically wear a black pair of Persols that frame my face nicely, but some girls have tried them on and they look just as good. If it's a good pair of glasses, it'll look good on anyone, male or female...think Wayfarers or classic tortoiseshell frames. I say as long as there isn't pink lettering or anything of the sort to make them truly look feminine, and they look good on you, go for it. At worst, people will remember you for being confident in something they'd be too afraid to pull off...

If you like them wear them, but, if it is of some comfort to you - unisex.

Personally, I don't like clear frames. But if you do more power to you.

Pick frames that suit your face, and worry less about what gender they're allegedly designed for.

I mean, a minority are clearly better suited to either men or women, but a majority are fairly unisex. A good optician should be able to advise you further.

I followed this logic in selecting them. Most plastic glasses are too bold and feel as though the glasses are wearing me, not the other way around.
