I just read that a portion of the RL shoes are made by C&J. So for the ones that are, for the sizing, are they rebranded with US sizing, or is that British C&J sizing?
Thanks

They are sold in US sizes which are generally labeled one larger than their british counterpart (i.e. 9.5E UK = 10.5 D US)

It's a half size difference.

Maybe it's somewhere in between? I have the audley UK 8E and ordered the PRL Benton aka Belgrave US 8.5D. I would say the audley was 2 mm longer length wise than the Benton. The Benton fits tighter than the audley. On the other hand, I believe a US 9D Benton might be too large.

It obviously can't be "something in between" 1/2 and 1 size. It's either one or the other.

I used to think it was 1/2. Lately I've been thinking it is 1. Not sure either way.

I agree.

I wear a UK 9.5

And buy a 10 in RL or in BB Peals.

The RL EG definitely follow EG 9.5/10 UK/US sizing.

RLPL EGs aren't in doubt really. From what they are labeled and from my own experience, they fit true to US size, and EG has always done the 1/2 size thing.

The CJs are the unknown...

I did notice the Polo Bentons were labeled half size difference. Since I always convert 1 full size UK/US, I ordered my regular US size in these and ignored their half size conversion. I seem to recall that in older threads/posts, members had reported that C&J made Polo shoes fit true to their labeled US size.

I got the Herends in 9D/8.5E. All of my other C&J are 8.5E UK or 9E and the Herends fit very much like my 348 lasted shoes in 8.5E.

I'm going to lob a grenade into this thread and postulate that not only is C&J for RL marked up one full size, it is actually a narrower width.

So a RL 10D = C&J 9D, not 9E, as you would otherwise assume.

Just my theory.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
