TM Lewin, Hawes & Curtis, or Harvie Harvie & Hudson

Hi,
I will be in London later this week and would like to pick up a couple of off the rack shirts. I like the British design (stripes) and the fact I can find Slim fit, my collar, and sleeve length; something that is more difficult in the US especially in discount stores. I am looking at 3-4 shirts for 90-100 pounds total. With that being said, my choices are:

1. TM Lewin
2. Hawes & Curtis
3. Harvie & Hudson

These are not going to be bespoke, just off the rack shirts. Would you recommend one Jermyn Street retailer over another, or just focus on the shirts I like?

I've never experienced Hawes and Curtis, but in my experience, H&H (Harvie and Hudson) shirts are much better constructed than TM Lewin shirts - but they are also usually a bit more expensive, too.

Well, your money will mean you'll be probably be able to lift more shirts - and of better quality - than a few weeks ago. That's assuming you're not paid in Gordon's British Pounds, of course.

Apologies. I'd probably be handing over ninety nine pounds to Harvie and Hudson for three of their shirts. It's always important to look one's best when one's country goes begging to the IMF.

I would second H&H -- nice shirts, interesting patterns. Lewin and H&C are about the same, although I would say that the Lewins are better value.

Hawes & Curtis trade on a formerly respected name, but sell complete trash; crappy plastic buttons and even crappier shirtings. TM Lewin is pretty good for the price, but is a step below H&H, which tends to be well-made relative to the others, and made from good materials. The only problem is that the shirts fit like tents. If you are something other than morbidly obese, you might want to look into slim shirts from H&H. I have no idea if they offer them or not.

And of course it's hard to find Slim Fit here.

How are all 3 compared to Thomas Pink? It's way too expensive over here, but I generally like their ***** (no I never owned a Borrelli or T&A shirt).

I am also looking for slimfits, but in 14.5" collar and 32" sleeves. Have been buying Hugo Boss for some time.

I think H&H are better quality than Thomas Pink.

I would row them as follows:

1- T. M. Lewin (though I must admit that I haven't ordered from them for about 8,9 yrs), shirts are very long-lasting and well-made, though...

2- H&H (very close)

3- Hawes & Curtis

I have heard Cole's mentioned also in these discussions of English shirtmakers ... but have no knowledge of the relative quality. They do offer "slim fit" though.

It's "Coles", without an apostrophe.
Nice shirts, with a nice cutaway collar.
Their slim fit is genuinely slim, too.

they're about the same quality, though i like h&h fabrics better than coles..

h&c is not THAT bad.. you get what you pay for, but it's still a much better shirt than most department stores offer..
