Hickey Fall line

I was on their site checking out the fall line and while I really like the new stuff, and I'm happy the aesthetic hasn't gone down as was predicted on this forum, what crack is little Mr. Freeman smoking with these prices? BoO prices for Made In China (Heaven) quality?

I have no problem with the old guard of American style like J. Crew, Hickey Freeman, Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers and Paul Stuart cashing in on the new re-emergence of a style they helped create thanks to BoO and Thom Browne but c'mon, these prices are out of control for the quality.

Actually like a lot of their shirts, but will never buy them because of that obnoxious leaf on the upper arm -- really, i have nothing against logos; if it was anything else, i wouldn't really mind. I might pick up a tie or two.

Oh, the one thing I forgot to mention, NO POT LEAVES THIS SEASON! (I did see two ties with weed on them actually. What are those brand director meetings like?!)

I have a polo from a few seasons ago and there's no logo on it...also it was made in Peru.....

It remains to be seen if they are changing their fit (like I've heard). I don't care about their 'aesthetic' as much as how slim the shirts are.

I've had to get BoO shirts slimmed down (local tailor $10 to taper the torso and upper arms). I've always compared Hickey to Polo Custom in terms of fit, close but not close enough. Fit can be fixed, style can not. I was expecting a Hollister shift with the talk on here. Fit is nice but I prefer a general style. I've accepted that I'll hate the fit of everything I buy off the rack and will have to take it to my tailor.

What's so amazing about their style? Half of their shirts once again have bizarre details (gold leaf foil on sleeve, side cinches, bizarre contrast collars), and every other product they have is pretty unremarkable. I admit, a few of their button down shirts look OK, but the fact that the colors are once again limited to bright blues and off whites, really makes most of the pieces unappealing. Their sweaters and pants are as tacky as ever, with faux paint splashes and marsupialed coin pocket placement, and their outwear is ridiculously overpriced. I like the brand, but I don't see more than two shirts I'd buy, and I'll be waiting until they drop to 60% off to pick them up. Their F/W from 07 was much better.

Nothing is "amazing" -- which is the appeal. Which is why I like the style. Which is why, if it was at J. Crew prices, which from all the Hickey items that I own, it should be, I would eat it up.

My original complaint was the prices, so that argument is null and void but other than that I like a lot of items from this line. I would just prefer them at the "staple" price that matches their design and quality.

As a pot smoker I sort of like the pot leaf logo (not that I actually own/wear any Hickey with it...). As a consumer, I'm seriously baffled by the idea of putting a pot leaf on a shirt for $200.

Also the quality is fantastic on Hickey, despite it being made in China.

Lets be serious, quality isn't comparable on Hickey and J Crew. Hickey might be over priced, but it's far better than J Crew.

Look in the steals and deals sections, most shirts are $75 + shipping right now. I've never bought a hickey piece for full retail and never plan to.
