I've been admiring the look of zip neck sweaters for a while and finally pulled the trigger on one. Now, I am wondering how to wear them. Do you wear them with a collared shirt underneath? Or with a contrasting long sleeved t-shirt? Or with the zipper pulled up so the sweater becomes a turtleneck?

I wear them with both a collared shirt and t shirts. Although the collared shirts look very good the t shirts just seem to be a little more cool looking, IMO. I think I would look weird with it zipped all the way, but if it was cold enough I wouldn't care.

Wear w/a collared shirt, preferably BD, and zipper open. Anything else looks bad imo.

^^Agreed^^ Stick to collared shirt. Tie is optional but gives that extra level of sophistication. It depends on your age but T-shirts underneath are a bit sophomoric a la college.

I have two slim fit ribbed wool zip necks. Contrary to the satorial advice given above, I wear them with a fitted t-shirt or a fitted mock and wear the sweater zipped most of the time. If it is worn with a dress shirt and tie it would look plain stupid.

very SLIM FIT zipped cardigan.. if you wear a dress shirt underneath, it would fit horribly. A mock helps if your neck is sensitive to wool when you have it zipped up.

I know the look you guys are talking about, it would work if it is a relatively looser garment which can accomodate a dress shirt and tie underneath. Not my cup of tea, but if it rings some people's bells...

I probably wouldn't wear a tie with a zip neck sweater because that's way too trendy. But I love them with button down sport shirts (or dress shirts) without a tie. And with corduroy pants.

Do you all pop the zip mock's collar when you wear it under a sportcoat?

I'll wear the collar up under a sport coat. Collar popping is for rappers.
