I would like to start a small portfolio on the side to track and purchase a few stocks. Most of my acquisitions will be small, in the 1.5k range, with no more than a trade or two over a quarterly period. Has anyone used Zecco? I was considering Sharebuilder.

Well, some of the people on a traders forum I post on knew the guys that started that company. They where supposed to make the platform available in a number of different countries but lately it's been silent on their part.... Do'nt know that other platform you mentioned but I would have my doubts about zecco....

I use Zecco. Worst interface ever. Other than that, they give you 10 free trades, which is fine with me. The community aspect is interesting too.

I lost 18% in stocks on the couple grand I played around with. I just pulled all my money out of zecco to pay off my credit card.

I'm with you. I threw some money at it to see what it was like compared to Scottrade (which I use regularly) and ETrade. I was underwhelmed.

I guess using Scotttrade or Sharebuilder is probably the safest bet for me. I would prefer a low cost online brokerage since my initial investments will be rather small.
