I recently upgraded to a 5mbps internet connection, but still get very choppy unreliable video from youtube HD even though the file is downloading fine. I looked into it some more, and it turns out my CPU usage hits 100% when I watch hi-def video and that seems to be causing the disruption.

My computer is an older 2.4GHz pentium 4 compaq presario with 512MB ram. Do I need to buy a new computer to take full advantage of HD video, or is there something I can do?

Updating your flash player and choosing different browser might help, 512mb is quite sufficient for 720p

I'm running Windows XP with the latest Adobe Flash. I tried IE and Opera with no luck, and Opera is supposed to be the low CPU usage champion at the moment. I'm not I follow how increasing the RAM would help the video, it seems based on task manager the biggest issue is the CPU usage hitting 100%.
