Actually, if you wanted something like this, it might be better to buy a charcoal suit change the buttons to create a contrast and that way you could wear the jacket separately essentially creating two outfits for the price of one. Also, if you found you just didnt like it you could change the buttons back to something that matched.

Wait -- isn't that a BlazerSuit? Something you just the other day said was all wrong?

I just picked up a solid charcoal 3-button jacket for $120 from J Crew. Not the highest quality or even all that versatile. However it'll work fine with a pair of jeans and a more casual looking shoe like this: http://zeta.zappos.com/product/7222448/color/284 Again, it is not going to be as versatile as some other jackets that you can purchase. However if you can pick it up for cheap than it is something to consider

Never said that it will be extremely stylish, but it can work - there are more variables - shirt, tie, PS, shoes. Plus the shades, texture and weight of both fabrics. So I won't eliminate ab initio the combination, I said that it can work (or more precisely it can be worked around).

I just purchased solid heather grey nailhead Isaia sportcoat from STP for $650. Seemed like a great deal and I plan on wearing it with jeans. Also it is 3 roll to 2 in Stuart model which I have always loved for a suit but not sure how it transforms to a sportcoat.

Any thoughts?

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
