Hi, it has been a while. Long time no see. I will be staying on the Upper West Side next week and will be doing some shopping. So, what Classic Menswear places should I visit. And what other suggestions do you have for a newb in Manhattan?

Thw Armoury on Madison Ave.

Beautiful shop. Great service

There's always Paul Stuart. They've drifted from their more trad style.

Bergdorf men's Shop. Like a Nieman Marcus: high -end Italian clothes,
some classic, some "designer"

NMWA. Never been there. Went to their trunks shows at SF Meet-ups.
Beautiful, somewhat fashion forward clothes:

LS Men's Clothing
Never been there. Reputation for high quality trad, mainstream merchandise
at relatively afforable prices. Has major MTM operation.

Davide Cenci. Elegant understated Italian clothing.Great service.
From the website looks like they have become more casual.

Here's my list for things north of Penn Station/MSG

Shops :
- Paul Stuart (trad-ish)
- Alden of Madison (shoes)
- J Press (trad)
- Loro Piana (just for the sticker shock)
- The Armoury (classic menswear and high end casual)
- Wempe (watches)
- Cartier Maison (watches/jewelry)

Food recs:
- JG Melon (burger)
- Upside Pizza
- Bemelman's Bar (old school cocktails)
- Jimmy's Corner (mid-town dive)
- Ess-a-Bagel

just to add that this would be a good time to get sized for shoes at Carmina, Alden, and/or Crockett & Jones, if you don’t already know your size for those makers.

Where are you visiting from?

I'd recommend venturing downtown.

For shoes, check out Leffot in the Village for shoes - they carry Edward Green, Gaziano & Girling, Norman Vilalta, Alden. There's a nice Crockett & Jones store in Soho and one in midtown also. Stefano Bemer also has a great store in Soho but it's almost speakeasy-like in its obscurity.

Soho has a lot of stores - a lot of designer, some classic such as Drake's, Sunspel, Proper Cloth, Burberry. Prepare for some sticker shock if you're walking around there.

For good casual options: Blue in Green, NMWA, Self Edge for denim, Concepts, Theory.

Likely too late to get a reservation but you could always try to go to Polo Bar! All the other food options listed are great as well! (Essa Bagel is my pick for best bagel in Manhattan)
