But they used to belong to Nay.

It's like owning a piece of the meteor.

LOL. I don't really care who has owned them. If they look nice, don't look damaged and are for a good price why not consider it?

I don't get any piling on any of my wool ties, but it's true that knots always look rather messy. I don't know how to describe exactly what they do, but they never seem to look right.

With wool ties my knots are usually thicker because of the thicker fabric bit I wouldn't say messier. Haven't had any piling issues but I've only had the oldest ones a year or so.
Yep, knots are thicker, but for some reason when I try a double FIH on my wool ties, it ends up sort of askew. Single FIH looks a bit messy too. And the thickness is way too much IMO, ends up looking like cardboard. I think I'm leaning towards Nay and

's dislike of these wool/cashmere/jacketing cloth ties (although they have different reasons for not liking them).

One of the reasons I am wearing today's tie so often is that all of my available alternatives (besides a navy knit) are wool ties that I don't really enjoy that much anymore. I have a shepherd's check wook+silk that I still like quite a bit, but all others... not so much

This. Also, depends on the tie, I have some wool/cashmere ties that are just as thin as my silk ones, and thinner than some thick silks.

It is probably no surprise that my clothing is also worth more after I have broken it in. Only an astonishing amount of personal integrity, gratitude for the forum and an enviable stockpile of highly liquid assets have prevented me from exploiting the premium.

Tried to make it shorter, but the knot looked weird (too long) because it was being made with a wider part of the tie. I'm a short prick. Wondering if the waistband level rule still applies so strictly when one is wearing his pants so high, though.

I'm curious as well. There may be a point where the tie just looks to short even if it does end at the right place, relative to the waistband
