When are Brown Ties Okay?

If you say so. However, it's probably still a bad idea for a German politician to wear a brown tie.

Hmmm I am not sure that people associate brown ties with Nazis (and actually I believe that the SA wore black ties with brown shirts).

Politicians here wear the same crappy looking stuff like everywhere else primarily relying on blue and red or combinations thereof.

It looks like at least in some variants of the brown-shirt uniform, the Nazi tie was brown. In others, it might have been black.

Vaguely related thought: brown ties seem much less likely to be patterned than most other colors.
