I suspect much of it will go 'missing'; the meagre baggage compensation is cheaper than the major exercise needed to sort out the baggage mountain.

I really, really hope you're wrong about that.

A perfect example of why I fly with just a carry-on. Sorry for your (I suspect soon enough will be official) loss of your luggage.

Well, they still don't have any information. They say our bags are still in London but they're going to be flown to the US with all of the other lost bags and sent on to us.. But I don't believe a word they're saying. I mean, they've lied to us all along and nothing's changed in a week. According to the guy I talked to this morning, there are 7000 bags still in Heathrow and 10000 currently being sent to or recently arrived in the States. He told me that if I filed a claim for compensation for the lost bags, I'd most likely get the money *and* my suitcases. *snort* Yeah, right.

Well you don't have to believe it, but as I said in an earlier post BA will be using FedEx to transport most of the bags that have been misplaced. But then again, what do I know, I only work for BA part time.

We've been told something different almost every time I've called 'em. So at this point, I just have to wait and see what happens. I really and truly hope I *do* get the suitcases, but at this point in the whole fiasco I've learned not to count on what I'm told. I can only imagine the amount of damage this is going to do to BA's reputation overall, given the scope of the screw-up.

You could always go full-freak-out Naomi Campbell on them.

I don't understand why BA is flying the kuggage that has piled up to Milan for "processing." Bizarre. Can someone explain the logic to me?

I'm a Virgin Atlantic fan myself....

They ran out of room at Heathrow so they sent it to a warehouse down there.

There's no place in the Greater London area that could accomodate that need? I find that difficult to believe. That's like US Airways sending all the bags that piled up in Philly last year to Phoenix for sorting.

USAirways has another sorting facility in Phoenix, they have a hub station there ever since they bought America West. BA is currently using Alitalia facilities in Milan as far as I know.

If going to London from the Northeast region and looking for premium seats, look into EOS (Stansted) and Silverjet (Luton). More pleasant in almost every way and cheaper, too. EOS will even give you a free iPod currently. I travel a couple hours to get to NYC airports and avoid Heathrow/BA.

This might be BA blasphemy, but Silverjet's product is absolutely amazing. I've flown them once so far, I just wish they would do what MaxJet did and come down to Baltimore/Washington.
