I greatly admire RL and his contributions. He looks great in some of these composed shots with the DB extended shoulder line. I can see how it would look weird IRL and 3 dimensions.
That said, it took a while for RL to become RL. In the early days he was just a sort of handsome guy with a big head in wide ties. Eventually he evolved into the charismatic, white-hot, star that is Ralph Lauren today. Someone who could make Mugatu’s Derlicte collection from Zoolander look good.
I agree that his earlier 'made in England' PL was a bit flamboyant and why I only purchased ties, shirts and shoes back in those days but today it's very much subdued and perfect in my opinion of what a strong suit should look like. Plus being of shorter stature makes his shoulders perhaps appear to be too big, but im sorry, this guy defines taste for more men than any other brand or label ever. Back in that time of launching PL, he wanted to make a statement and that he did. Compare though the earlier purple label to the Hollywood 30's snd 40's and they don't look so out of whack.
