Lol I just posted the Always On My Mind video in the other music thread, then saw this. Someone once told me that West End Girls was technically the first "rap" song to ever hit #1 in the USA, because it has spoken word component?

yt turned me on to a guitarist that i'd never heard of but chet atkins loved his tech and so i tuned in and was pretty shocked to see n hear that there is a dude out there who approaches the instrument in very nearly the same way that i happen to think about it .

awhile back I saw Michael Daves perform a show with Chris thile at the great American music hall in sf . it was a fun act they did a mix of traditionals and bill monroe through like some early blues stuff and part of what they were doing was like a boogie woogie piano thing where thile the mandolinist was doing the right hand part and Daves was doing the left hand part . and then they're both tenors so they were doing the high lonesome harmonies etc . the album of duets is worth checking out it's called sleep with one eye open .

anyways Daves his own style of performance and it's very forward and awesome :
