I am currently about to finish my pre-shower glass of Johnny Walker Black. I planned the bottle to last until Monday. That was a joke. I will be luck if it lasts until Friday.

I'm sipping on a very cold beer. A friend of mine just posted that he's drinking Cake vodka. I was surprised to learn that the band Cake is making vodka, I've always been a fan and actually really like their last album. I'll have to try some.

Different beasts, but the 5 + 5 is really an epic rum. Definitely worth a try.

Copy that. Well then, I should have both!

Yoichi 10 yr and some Wilkinson club soda I just bought at the convenience store. Got a flask bottle of I.W. Harper gold medal (truck stop-level ****) in case the single malt doesn't do me up well enough tonight.

You sir, are a goddamn professional. Solid taste and intake.

What is gym syrup?

Something I never want to try. :)

My first Aviation. I was in Boston last weekend, and figured I would grab a bottle there since I can't in NC (and no store I found stocked Benedictine! :censored:). So I now have a bottle of Luxardo Maraschino, and all the reviews are correct- there's nothing quite like it that I've ever tasted.

Nice cocktail, and I could see Maraschino being an interesting thing to play around with, as well as something I could use in place of my long lost benedictine in several recipes. Nothing close to a direct substitute to be sure, but something that could inspire similar things in a recipe.

I forgot how much I like Yoichi - great smokiness, a little peat, and for that matter, Miyagikyo is great too. Underrated, considering how much reach the Suntorys get overseas lately.

Today:

While refinishing a deck: Post Road Pumpkin Ale.
Dinner: Negra Modelo

Afterward: Aviation, Aurora, which is a personal invention mentioned earlier in this thread. 1 1/2 shots gin, .75 oz each of lime juice and St. Germain.

Before those two, I had an experiment predicated on "what can I do with only one shot of gin left in the bottle?". I wound up with:
1.5 oz gin
1.5 oz Sweet Vermouth
.25 oz grenadine
.75 oz lemon juice

It was quite good, and one I will be repeating. If there's a name for something anywhere close to that, I'd like to know. If not, suggestions would be appreciated, if only for my internal records and SF posts.
