Can I wear any of these to a wedding? My other option would be a black bow tie.
What color is the suit and shirt? Are you the groom, a groomsman, or a guest? It's not 'black tie', is it (you mention black bow tie)?

Going on assumptions (guest, not-black tie, dark grey or navy suit with white shirt), those are not ideal ties, from a strictly 'style rules' sense. They're 100% acceptable, but they have a certain 'business' feel to them. The rest of this thread discusses how glenplaid, prince of Wales, and houndstooth are the preferred tie patterns for weddings. Have you tried any of those three options?

If those 4 are the only options, I'd do the 2nd from the right (white/blue diamond pattern).

Edit: oh, 2nd pic has your suit. I still like the 2nd from the right.

I have not tried any of those ties. I’m colorblind so it’s very difficult for me to order ties online. I live very close to peter Blair, I can stop by their store see if they have anything in those patterns.
You’re assumptions are correct. The suit is dark navy/midnight.

I would choose the pink(4th tie/2nd group).

Cross-post from another thread. Trying to figure out what I'm wearing to a friend's wedding. Specifically trying to nail down the tie. The ceremony is to occur at 3p on a Sunday last week in October. Wearing a charcoal suit, white shirt, and black oxfords. I'm familiar with traditional wedding ties (e.g., shepherds check, houndstooth, glen plaid, macclesfield), but want to see what other options could work. I'm going for something elegant, understated, and appropriate, but with some personality. I have a particular tie I’m leaning towards, but want to source additional opinions. Thoughts on the attached? Ignore the pocket square, as it’s just a placeholder. Your feedback is much appreciated.

I would wear the first or second one, most likely the first. Of course, I have a tie almost identical to the first one (although mine is more subdued) which I almost always wear to weddings if they aren't black-tie.

The first one, the glen plaid, is the only true wedding tie.

Thanks for chiming in, you two. Worried that the glen plaid and charcoal suit will not provide enough contrast, though. Any recommendations if I go that route?

I think that combination is just fine.

Gentlemen,

I have a wedding to go to in the spring (god willing). The dress code is "normal" (i.e., men will be wearing suits). For the evening reception, would a navy grenadine tie be too somber? I'm not that keen on floral patterns or traditional wedding ties. I'm also not that keen on buying another tie.

I'll be wearing a charcoal suit and white shirt. I want to wear this tie, which is my favorite, but am open to being convinced I should wear something more "fun" or fitting for the occasion. Any thoughts are appreciated.

if you’re just a guest, you’re fine. You can jazz it up a bit with a more colorful pocket square but a navy grenadine tie is about as versatile as you can get.

normal?

Coming down to the wire with my wedding. On the fence between wearing a classic wedding tie (glen plaid, houndstooth, shepherds check) vs. just keeping it simple with a navy grenadine tie.

I will be wearing:
-Navy 2-piece notch lapel (Loro Piana Super 150s)
-Thomas Mason GoldLine White Fine Twill Shirt
-Kent Wang White Linen Pocket Square
-Pantherella Danvers Over-the-Calf Navy socks
-Carmina Black Cap Toe Oxfords on Rain last.

Thoughts?

It would always be helpful to post pics of the options.

I feel a navy suit with navy grenadine tie is a wee bit on the navy side. I'd do wedding tie personally. Or burgundy grenadine.

Classic wedding tie, without question, is better with a navy suit for your wedding. If, on the other hand, you were wearing a grey suit, then I'd say navy tie.
