I've only had two people disagree with me when I've said it's the greatest television show ever. I love that all the scenes were filmed on location.

In the hopes of reviving this thread, I would have to say that you are wrong regarding Stringer.

I just got my mom hooked on it.
Season 4 is possibly the greatest bit of TV ever written. Each episode is so heavy without ever being overwrought.
In terms of insanity / sociopathy =
I'm currently in the process of getting my wife hooked on it..
did this last year and now we can't start a new tv series without realizing how crappy it is compared to the wire. Like if something is "hyper reality" like SouthLand then she'll say "they wire was better". Basically tv sucks now after watching the wire. but at least i got to watch the whole series over again. I missed all of season 3 the first time around so I was really invested into seasons 4/5 on second viewing.
Omar is the greatest character is the history of TV. Discuss.

This is correct. There is no discussion to be had. The only possible contender is Mcnulty.
I'd nominate Frank Sobotka. The writing in Season 2 was just too damn good and the character arc just heartbreaking. The Efuge efuge-scene (no other series has ever used music better than The Wire) in one of the last s2 eps is just brutal, as Frank walks towards the Greeks (who've just received word from their informant that Frank's been to the cops) and his death.
New Question
I think there's plenty of good TV out there, but you just have to come into each program with the right frame of mind.
