I noticed on eBay some stock certificates of now long-gone companies: Pan Am, Braniff, Mobile & Ohio Railroad, Billups Oil, etc. They are fairly inexpensive and I've been thinking of papering my inner sanctum (my home office 'powder' room) with them. Good idea or tacky?

Thoughts?

I like the idea but don't know if I'd want to do an entire room in them. Powder rooms as I picture them are generally relatively small and old stock certificates are pretty busy. It might get a bit dizzying or claustrophobic in there. One or two walls worth might be interesting though.

I'm actually thinking of one wall, the one behind the sink ... the primary focal point of the room ... and it's partially obscured by the sink & pedistal as well as the mirror.

hmmm, unless you have an awfully large powder room, maybe more like a den?

Collecting the certificates seems like a nice hobby. Many of them are beautiful. My dad use to buy tons of "old west checks" from banks that popped up during the railroad boom.
