Damn you waited since 2am? That’s crazy. The US stores need to institute a lottery like the JP stores for high demand items.

I’m surprised, how large the space is, that there wasn’t any place to actually sit down and drink what you purchase from LCC.

I chatted a bit with some folks and they said the stock would be less than LA store for sure and size runs would be similar (no 1 and very limited 2). They did confirm that they would do trunk shows in that location. For folks in the Bay Area may be easier.

Last black Friday and today is basically the same, I am 3rd in line for both cases and the item I want (purple and black kerchief respectively) only has 2 in stock. So just a bit unlucky for my case.

I actually think lottery would be worse cause imagine how many people real resellers can bring to do a lottery LOL. I still feel fcfs is mostly fair just that absolute worst case scenarios happen to me twice in a roll.

And I don't know about trunk show at Carmel would be a good idea. Like literally out of the 4 people in line today there were only 2 from bay area. I wouldn't mind attending a trunk show as one of the only 2 invites though :)

Any tips to win over this fraud case?

Last week I purchased Visvim off white color 20L Ballistic bag that was 'Authenticated' from Grailed. From the user named 'avantgarde_official'.

I have talked to the user and he is blaming the faults on me.

I have reported in paypal for a refund, and grailed. However the websites are very slow on feedbacks. This user is still active selling his stuff.

The bag was totally fake compared to legit ones. I'm persuading the Grailed team and Paypal how it is a fake, also that this bag was authenticated in the first place.

Still the issue is on inspection
I found a fake item I purchased from Grailed years ago and they still gave me the refund this summer. Document the obvious errors like you did and give them an authentic version's photos to compare with. Maybe I got lucky but I think you'll def get money back.

I think that in JP they have tried all sorts of stuff to discourage resellers on launch days. I remember the first time I went to a release day a while back they had all sorts of rules dictating how many pieces of Visvim you had to wear to even enter the lottery (2 pieces, and accessories and t-shirts didn’t count).

That being said, Carmel is a weird city and I can’t see them being okay with lines outside the store for big drops.

Ah another advantage of trunk show in Carmel is that each trunk show sometimes has a limited (lottery based) item. For example the American flag kasuri shirt for SS23. Each store gets a certain allotment, so maybe it’d be easier for North Bay folks.

No no i found it during a closet clean out, realized it was likely fake, and opened a claim this summer. Maybe two weeks later I got a refund. It was pretty quick and painless considering it's gr@iled.

I also stopped by today. They still had a full run of blue kerchiefs. Store is cool, I like it a lot more than the LA store but can’t possibly see them making a profit on this store. Hiroki and his family were hanging.
I guess it depends if the Carmel crowd or Pebble Beach crowd are fans. Can see it appealing to people like me who did the Highway 1 driving holiday, but admit it is a niche location. I guess it's hard to find locations that fit their brief that aren't super commercialised.

I really liked Carmel last time I visited. The mid century modern houses definitely fit the aesthetic of his house in LA.

launch days are a nightmare... I was in JP a few years ago... you needed to wear 4 items (no accessories or tee's), then lined up to get a number in line... so all in all, 6am line up to get a "line number" then told to come back at 10am to join the line. Got in at 2.30pm... nothing left (ha ha - it was a fun experience though)

I’m in Carmel a fair bit cause a buddy of mine has a house down there. I’d say these days it’s a mix of old money and some new tech folks. Either way the style is pretty conservative and I’d see the audience lean more towards Cucinelli than Visvim. That being said there’s a reasonably big car culture in the area and maybe that’s their target audience. I think Hiroki spends most of his time here vs LA these days.

Keep in mind they also have a reception for VIP the day before on launch day, so even if you’re first in line in the “normal” line the good stuff might already be gone.

With the raffles, lineups, and vip receptions, how do the proxies work? Like how do they get their stock?

From when I went to Clint Eastwoods restaurant, I can see what you mean.

A lot of the proxies go through non-Tokyo stores where the demand is significantly less. Also a lot of the non Tokyo stores are actually operated as sorta “franchises” so some of the rules are less strict. For example I think the Sendai store is partnered with Revolution. I know a lot of proxies use the Fukuoka store.

All that being said, the demand is significantly less than it was before as they have expanded the trunk show and anyone who regularly buys gets access to preorder these days, so outside of ICT releases there isn’t really a reason to go to stores anymore.
