they don't look like Ambermatic... the color is more like changeable brown.
and maybe they are normal top gradient mirrored, not ultra-gradient.
but seller said he's got paper description... if that's the case, I'd certainly be interested to see those descriptions.

Ossterling, do you see my pic on the left hand side?
the 4 concentric circles with different colours?
They were from an ambermatic box, and i reckon they represent the 4 different colours of the Ambermatic lenses: amber, light brown, dark brown and grey/silver (in cold sunny days).

Hello Mr. Musehead,
I got some used Ray Bans and would appreciate to here what you think. I believe they are Ray Ban Balorama L2870 from the images online. On the right leg is etched " B&L RAY BAN U.S.A. " and on the left leg is etched " L2870 WSAO BALORAMA. The hinges are 5 hinge. The lens have the Ray-Ban logo and BL etched on the side. Hoping you can give me an idea of how old they are and what they're worth. They don't sit on my face that great so I'm looking to sell them and purchase the RB 4214.

didnt realize the picture did represent that, but indeed those should be the colors depending on the temp and light conditions.

below picture shows that there are apparently 3 types of Ambermatics... (also the RB50 lenses are Ambermatics??) anyone know?

Hey there, how are you guys? I know the topic is quite old, but i really need your help.

I have a B&L old Rayban Aviator, top side reads "B&L Ray Ban U.S.A LIC" Bottom side reads "B&L 58 L/14 U.S.A."

Unfortunately its really damage and i was hoping if you could help me out a solution to repare (like extreme makeover) it.

I also cant tell you what kind of lenses is it, can you?

Thank you very much!

Regards,

The plastic on the vintage models is a lot stiffer. Also, vintage models are heavier and to my eye, the old Wayfarers seem to lean forward more than the current ones. I really like the old styling.

Indeed , the lens is angled . I also have a pair of the vintage Wayfarers which I got brand new but they were also forgotten in a display cabinet. .ttfn

Indeed, frames are not in good condition anymore, about the lenses (unfortunately this Forum made it small under low quality, can send by PM if you need) they are fully mirrored. Is it possible to repair? Really care about this one.

What's the actual damage? They are normally repairable...

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
